Need A New Laptop Cover?

It is my personal opinion that you can never have too many laptop covers. Each time my mood changes, I like to use a different laptop cover. The best part about it is that they make great conversation starters.

I have been making laptop covers for myself for ages and have met such interesting people through them. So many of the people I meet have asked me about my covers so I have decided to make a few covers and sell them.

Each cover is one of a kind since it is handmade. For more information, take a look at my Etsy shop here. (I also have a few other designs so feel free to leave a comment if you're looking for something in particular).

Do You Have Bad Posture?

I recently found out that because of my bad posture, I am 2 inches shorter than my actual height. This was slightly devastating to me so I have started doing some exercises to strength my muscles and help me stand up straighter and taller.

Slouching not only looks ugly but it also causes back pain. Take a look at some of the things I've started working on here in an attempt to elongate my spine and stand up straight.

One of my favourites is yoga. I can really feel my muscles getting stronger, and my body relaxing and getting taller. It's not easy but it's definitely worth it!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2011

New York Fashion Week raps up today and I have to admit, I loved almost every single collection. My favourite as always is Michael Kors, I can't get enough of his clothes! For a run down of fall 2011 fashion trends coming to a store near you, check out my predictions. I'm not sure which trend I am most excited about but I definitely love all the warm, red tones that will soon be entering my wardrobe!

Visiting South Africa

It goes without say that there are more things to do in South Africa than can be done in one trip alone. One activity that should not be missed out on is visiting the many artisan flea markets. They are the perfect place to buy gifts for friend and family back home and pick up some souvenirs for yourself. Ebony masks, tall giraffe statues, and hand-painted fabrics brought back from South Africa make great conversation starters in your home.

Here's a list of some of the top markets to visit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Happy shopping!

Introducing Your Baby to Solid Food

Recently a study was done by Pediatrics which found that obesity at age 3 is linked to the age at which a baby is introduced to solid food.

The link was only found between babies that were formula-fed. There was no link between babies that were breastfed, when they were introduced to solid food, and their risk of childhood obesity.

For more details on the study, take a look here.

Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's Day and in honour of Valentine's Day, I have created two articles for those of us who need a little gift inspiration.

Whether your pocket book is a bit low on cash or not, free gifts always reflect the effort you put into them making them a sure winner every time. Rather then buying an expensive box of chocolates, why not try your hand at writing a romantic poem for your loved one?

Writing a romantic poem for Valentine's Day is a great gift idea because it can be difficult for many people to write down their emotions. Putting your feelings into words and presenting them to your Valentine is a special way to show them how much you care.

Take a look at Five Free Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for more inspiration.

Secondly, many people with children like to get their kids involved in Valentine's Day. Even though this holiday is typically for couples, what a better way to spend some quality time with the kids than to do some love-inspired activities? Since kids love to be rewarded for their hard work, get them involved in cleaning the house or preparing a breakfast in bed.

Things for Kids to do on Valentine's Day has a couple more ideas on how to get your children involved so that both you and they have a fun and relaxing day.

Freelance Writing

I have started freelance writing for a variety of sites. One of these sites is Suite101.com.

My first piece is all about Raising the Perfect Puppy. The article was inspired by watching episodes of Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. Every time I watch an episode of his, I learn something new.

For example, did you know that when you feed a puppy, they need to make eye contact with you rather than focus on the food you are holding. Take a look at my piece to find out why eye contact is important and get some more tips on how to raise a family dog that's a joy to own.

A Poem

Strangers in the Night

I thought I could learn to run
But instead I learnt to fly

I thought I was surrounded by hardship and suffering
But it was only determination and perseverance

I thought there was nothing left to do
But I discovered I had done nothing

I thought I was alone
But I found I had someone
